Investments with the intention is to accumulate the highest Return on investment (ROI) by the time of retirement age. These investments are popular as many do not wish to rely on fixed income such as Social Security. The earlier an investment is established, the longer the power of compounding earnings can can be achieved. Qualified plans established by employers to which eligible employees may make salary deferral (salary reduction) contributions on a post-tax and/or pretax basis such as a 401(k) plan is an example. Individual Retirement Accounts, or IRAs, and first trust deed investments can also be used for this purpose
